Partner Daniel Boglioli Honored by New York Law Journal for His Outstanding Commitment to Pro Bono Work
September 19, 2011
New York Law Journal today recognized Kaye Scholer Litigation Partner Daniel M. Boglioli as an “Unsung Hero,” for his sustained commitment to pro bono work. Boglioli was honored in the paper’s inaugural pro bono special section, which profiles those law firms, attorneys and bar associations that heavily invest in pro bono work. Boglioli’s selection was based on the quality and volume of his pro bono efforts, as well as on his leadership and commitment to training junior attorneys on how to provide effective service to clients in need.
Since 2007, Boglioli has devoted more than 1,800 hours to pro bono work. He has chaired five of the firm’s pro bono practice areas, both personally representing clients and supervising numerous associates in matters including securing federal assistance for the disabled, re-integrating former prisoners back into society, Rockefeller drug law issues, family law and juvenile rights. Boglioli has also handled criminal appeals, special education matters and asylum cases, and he served pro bono as lead counsel for the Corporation Counsel of the City of New York in defense of a civil case brought against New York City.
“Dan’s dedication to public service serves as an extraordinary inspiration to all of his colleagues,” said Kaye Scholer Co-Managing Partner Michael Solow. “His leadership and personal commitment to assisting the indigent have encouraged Kaye Scholer associates and partners to devote thousands of hours to public service.”
Boglioli was nominated for this award by fellow Litigation Partner Jay W. Waks, chair of Kaye Scholer’s Employment and Labor practice. Honorees will be celebrated at an awards dinner on Nov. 1 in New York City.
