“Appeals Court Hears Minimum Wage Arguments for California State Workers,” Sacramento Bee

Steven S. Rosenthal (Partner, Washington, DC Office) was recently quoted in the Sacramento Bee regarding his representation of California State Controller John Chiang in what was described as "a government civil war . . . in a Sacramento appellate court" that set "the stage for a dramatic decision that will dictate whether the state can withhold pay to the federal minimum for more than 200,000 workers." Three justices from the 3rd District Court of Appeal heard STEVEN argue that Superior Court Judge Timothy Frawley's 2009 decision did not correctly interpret the controller's legal obligation to adhere to federal labor standards.
