Sheldon L. Solow (08/19/14)

Sheldon Solow is a Partner in the firm’s Chicago office. He has represented and continues to represent a wide variety of constituencies, including secured lenders (lead counsel to Bank Group in Cambridge Industries), purchasers of businesses (Schwinn Bicycle), bondholders (International Knife and Saw), fiduciaries (Trustee of Winstar Communications, Representative for Unknown Asbestos Claimants in Plibrico), special litigation committees (Safety Kleen) and debtors (Kotler Industries) as well as individual clients. He also served as Trustee for Midway Airlines, Inc. — the largest Chapter 7 proceeding in the Northern District of Illinois. Sheldon was appointed by the Honorable Robert Ginsberg as legal representative for the class of unknown malpractice claimants in In re Provident Hospital. In Chambers USA 2013, Sheldon is recognized as a leading practitioner in Bankruptcy & Restructuring. He is ranked in Best Lawyers in America (2011-2015) for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights, and Insolvency and Reorganization Law.

Marc serves as Chair of Kaye Scholer’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring Department in Los Angeles. He has nearly 40 years’ experience in bankruptcy law and corporate reorganization, with particular emphasis on the representation of bondholders, secured creditors, creditors’ committees, and debtors-in-possession. He currently represents the California State Controller in disputes with life insurance companies regarding escheat matters, the Controller and the California Department of Finance in the City of San Bernardino Chapter 9 proceeding, and LAX in connection with the American Airlines Chapter 11.

Sandra Pfister ist Partnerin im Finance Department von Kaye Scholer mit dem Tätigkeitsschwerpunkt Bank- und Finanzrecht. Sie berät vorrangig Banken, institutionelle Investoren und Darlehensnehmer bei deutschen und grenzüberschreitenden bilateralen und syndizierten Unternehmens- und strukturierten Finanzierungstransaktionen, einschließlich Akquisitionsfinanzierungen (darunter öffentliche Übernahmen und LBOs), Exportkreditfinan­zierungen, Handelsfinanzierungen, Projektfinanzierungen (schwerpunktmäßig im Bereich Energie & Infrastruktur), Immobilienfinanzierungen, Restrukturierungen und Schuld­scheindarlehen, sowie zu allgemeinen finanzierungs­rechtlichen Fragestellungen. Sandra Pfister verfügt zudem über umfassende Erfahrung im Bereich der internationalen Debt und Equity Capital Markets-Transaktionen, darunter Corporate und High Yield Bonds, LYONs, Wandel- und Umtauschanleihen, IPOs, Dual-Listings (u.a. an der NASDAQ) sowie Bezugsrechts- und Pflichtangebote.

Benjamin Mintz is a partner in Kaye Scholer’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring Department. Ben has extensive transaction experience with respect to the negotiating and drafting of complex asset purchase agreements, loan agreements, investment agreements, subordination and intercreditor agreements, factoring agreements, and reorganization plans. He has also been actively involved in several litigation matters before bankruptcy and other courts throughout the country, including appeals to federal district and circuit courts.

Manvin Mayell (07/10/14)

Manvin Mayell is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on white collar investigations and litigations, as well as major product liability cases and commercial litigation matters. He has represented pharmaceutical companies in investigations and litigations regarding government claims that marketing and contracting practices violate the False Claims Act, and has used those experiences to counsel clients regarding broad compliance issues. In addition, Manvin has represented financial services clients in internal investigations of alleged accounting fraud. Prior to joining Kaye Scholer, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney.

Dr. Gottfried Freier, Special Counsel bei Kaye Scholer, leitete von 2007 bis Mai 2012 als Managing Partner das Büro der Kanzlei in Frankfurt. Bevor er sich als Rechtsanwalt selbständig machte und 2001 zunächst Jones Day anschloss, war Dr. Freier von 1998 bis 2001 General Counsel Legal and Taxes von BASF Pharma mit weltweiter Verantwortung, sowie von 1985 bis 1998 in verschiedenen Funktionen Syndikusanwalt bei BASF (1985 - 1987 Patentabteilung, 1987 - 1993 Zentralabteilung Recht, 1993 - 1998 Zentralabteilung Steuern und Zölle). Aufgrund seiner langjährigen Tätigkeit als Unternehmensjurist in der Chemie- und der Pharmaindustrie hat sich bei der Mandantschaft von Dr. Gottfried Freier eine entsprechende Konzentration auf diese Branchen herausgebildet. Sein Beratungsspektrum umfasst vor allem die Bereiche Merger & Acquisitions, Gesellschaftsrecht, Technologietransaktionen (u.a. Lizenz- und Kooperationsverträge).
