Landmark Litigation

Gerald Sobel has litigated and tried many complex cases in over 40 years of practice. His trials include landmark wins in cases of exceptional complexity and novel legal issues. By way of example, he represented Xerox in its win in the SCM v. Xerox case, including a year-long antitrust trial involving office copier technology in the District of Connecticut – the longest federal civil jury trial; was lead counsel for Xoma in its win on patent infringement against Centocor before a San Francisco jury – the longest biotech patent trial; and was lead counsel for Pfizer against the University of Rochester, in its win in the Celebrex® patent infringement case on summary judgment and then on appeal at the Federal Circuit.

Marisa Armanino Williams (05/06/13)

Marisa Armanino Williams is an Associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice group and focuses her practice on patent litigation. She has assisted in litigating patents covering a broad range of technology, from genome sequencing to social networking websites to jet engine turbomachinery. In addition to litigating in federal district court, Marisa has experience in Section 337 investigations before the United States International Trade Commission.

Nicholas Friedman is an Associate in Kaye Scholer’s Complex Commercial Litigation Department and a member of the Firm’s Life Sciences group. He represents clients in commercial, product liability and intellectual property litigation, with a particular focus on consolidated mass tort actions. Mr. Friedman has represented clients in all phases of litigation both in state and federal courts.

Dr. Gottfried Freier, Special Counsel bei Kaye Scholer, leitete von 2007 bis Mai 2012 als Managing Partner das Büro der Kanzlei in Frankfurt. Bevor er sich als Rechtsanwalt selbständig machte und 2001 zunächst Jones Day anschloss, war Dr. Freier von 1998 bis 2001 General Counsel Legal and Taxes von BASF Pharma mit weltweiter Verantwortung, sowie von 1985 bis 1998 in verschiedenen Funktionen Syndikusanwalt bei BASF (1985 - 1987 Patentabteilung, 1987 - 1993 Zentralabteilung Recht, 1993 - 1998 Zentralabteilung Steuern und Zölle).
