Farhad Jalinous is a Partner and Chair of the firm’s National Security, Government Contracts and Regulatory Compliance Department and the National Security/CFIUS Practice Group. His experience includes negotiating some of the most complex and sensitive national security agreements approved by the U.S. government. Farhad has represented top Fortune 500 companies in their investments in U.S. companies involving national security issues. He represents foreign clients and their domestic affiliates in connection with the regulatory aspects of investing in the United States.
MEHRIn particular, Farhad represents clients in Exon-Florio reviews before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (“CFIUS”), as well as before several federal agencies, including the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy, with respect to mitigation of foreign ownership, control or influence (“FOCI”) under the applicable national industrial security regulations.
Farhad is recognized by Chambers USA and Chambers Global as one of the leading practitioners in matters relating to national security and foreign direct investment (FDI) in the US. In interviews with his clients, Chambers USA 2013 found that they “describe Farhad…as ‘incredibly knowledgeable,’ and commend his ability to apply this knowledge to individual business circumstances.” Farhad is often quoted in prominent publications including Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, American Law Daily and The Daily Deal.
Farhad has also been involved in Kaye Scholer’s various alternative dispute resolution practices, including international arbitration and mass tort mediation. He was instrumental in the compilation of a casebook on mass torts.
Farhad is fluent in French and Farsi.
