Jonathan Rotter is actively involved in the firm’s Intellectual Property, Antitrust, Product Liability, Securities and Pro Bono practices, litigating on behalf of a broad range of clients, from Fortune 100 companies to individuals in need of pro bono services. Jonathan argues appeals, tries cases and manages all phases of complex litigation. He has been recognized as an outstanding and creative lawyer and leader.
MEHRJonathan’s patent litigation experience encompasses the aerospace, biochemical, chemical, computer, communications, materials, mechanical, medical device, molecular biology, and pharmaceutical fields. In the products liability sphere, he served on trial teams in the phenylpropanolamine product liability litigation, and has successfully defended medical device manufacturers against claims of product defects and clinical trial liability. Jonathan also provides intellectual property licensing advice.
Jonathan recently litigated a constitutional case for the California State Controller, and has handled disputes concerning banking, consumer services, professional liability, contract, real estate and other commercial areas. In addition to litigation, Jonathan also represents clients in investigations and regulatory proceedings, including the representation of a public company in the SEC and DOJ’s investigation of stock options backdating and a leading oil company in the California Attorney General’s investigation of gasoline pricing.
Jonathan is a member of the firm’s pro bono committee, and maintains an active pro bono litigation practice. Recently, he served on the Mortgage Fraud and Consumer Protection work group for Attorney General Kamala Harris, acted as a volunteer criminal prosecutor for the City of Los Angeles, and provided legal analysis and consulting for charitable and legal services organizations.
