Jay P. Mayesh is a Partner in the firm's Product Liability group, which was named "Best Product Liability Practice" in January 2006 by The American Lawyer, and Product Liability Firm of the Year at the 2008 Chambers and Partners "USA Awards for Excellence" ceremony. He is nationally ranked for product liability and "universally recognized" for his trial skills by Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Mr. Mayesh has extensive jury trial experience, serving as trial counsel to The Upjohn Company in DES litigation, Baxter Healthcare in silicone breast implant litigation, Pfizer in pharmaceutical litigation, Warner-Lambert in Rezulin litigation, and DaimlerChrysler and Navistar in automotive litigation. Mr. Mayesh has served as counsel for American Motors in Jeep rollover litigation, for Niagara Mohawk Power in electromagnetic field (EMF) litigation and for the welding industry in cases alleging occupational exposure to asbestos. Examples of his trial successes include: the defense of Baxter Healthcare in a breast implant case; the defense of DaimlerChrysl­er in the first child air bag case to be tried in the United States; and the defense of Pfizer in a phase III clinical trial case.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Mayesh has particular experience in conducting audits to evaluate the potential product-related liabilities in proposed corporate acquisitions and reorganizations.

A regular CNN and Court TV commentator, Mr. Mayesh has served on faculties for the Practicing Law Institute, the American Law Institute–American Bar Association, the Cardozo Intensive Trial Advocacy Program, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York County Lawyers' Association and on the Board of Editors of Product Liability Law and Strategy. He has written articles on product liability and trial practice, and lectures frequently on these subjects.

Mr. Mayesh is the author of the product liability chapter in the leading textbook on biomaterials. He has a faculty appointment in Forensic Psychiatry at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons and is a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council.
