Sheila Boston Presents MBBA’s “Corporate Counsel of the Year” Award to Atiba D. Adams of Pfizer

On June 28, 2010, at the Metropolitan Black Bar Association’s 26th Anniversary Awards Dinner, Sheila Boston, Partner in the Litigation Department, presented the MBBA’s award for “Corporate Counsel of the Year” to Atiba D. Adams, Assistant General Counsel to pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc.  Ms. Boston was a recipient of the “Lawyer of the Year” award from the MBBA in 2007 for her contributions to the New York City legal community and for her many civic contributions to the African American community at large.

Also honored at the awards dinner were U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who received the “Trailblazer Award,” Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Yvonne Lewis, who received “Jurist of the Year” and Lisa E. Davis, who received “Lawyer of the Year.”

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, the nation’s first African-American attorney general, delivered the keynote address reflecting on the battles of past generations of African-American lawyers and other attorneys of color, to an audience of hundreds of lawyers, judges and friends.

Joseph Drayton, Counsel in the Litigation Department, is the President-Elect of the MBBA and delivered the closing remarks at the ceremony.

The MBBA, a unified citywide association of African-American and other minority lawyers, advances equality and excellence in the pursuit of justice, aids the progress of Blacks and other minorities in the profession, addresses legal issues affecting the citywide community, and fosters the study of law by encouraging the personal and professional development of young lawyers and law students.
