"Negotiating the M&A Deal: A Mock Negotiation of the Acquisition of a Privately Held Company" (Columbia Law School, New York, NY)
On October 26, 2010, Joel I. Greenberg, Senior Corporate Partner of the Corporate & Finance Department, served on a panel with a group of seasoned mergers & acquisitions attorneys from major law firms across North America to stage an interactive "mock negotiation" at Columbia Law School. The panelists illustrated the "give-and-take" in a contentious negotiation involving a middle-market acquisition of a privately-held company, focusing on some of the more controversial provisions included in the definitive acquisition agreement. The panelists stepped out of character frequently during the course of their presentation to explain their negotiating positions and strategies and to respond to questions from the audience.
