“Municipal Bankruptcies,” Ninth Circuit Chief Bankruptcy Judges Conference

Marc S. Cohen, Partner and Los Angeles Chair of the Business Reorganization and Creditors' Rights Practice Group, was a featured speaker at the program of the Ninth Circuit Chief Bankruptcy Judges Conference, presenting on the topic of “Municipal Bankruptcies” on Thursday, November 18, 2010. Mr. Cohen addressed alternatives to Chapter 9, commencement of the Chapter 9 case, and state-by-state eligibility requirements. Mr. Cohen also lead a discussion on municipalities and states facing fiscal distress in 2010-2011. Julie Belezzuoli, Associate in the Los Angeles Office, co-authored the material used in Mr. Cohen's presentation and featured in the Ninth Circuit Chief Bankruptcy Judges Conference handout.
