Kaye Scholer’s State-of-the-Art New York Office

January 22, 2015

Kaye Scholer's state-of-the-art NY flagship at 250 West 55th Street balances the firm’s historic New York roots and its commitment to building a modern law firm, laying the groundwork for the firm’s centennial celebration in 2017. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), the building is a 38-story Boston Properties Class A office tower based on SOM’s seminal Lever House on Park Avenue. Kaye Scholer occupies 13 floors, comprising approximately 260,000 total square feet.

“We’ve created a more competitive footprint by strengthening our firm from the inside out,” said Managing Partner Michael Solow. “Our new office reflects our commitment to and investment in our future: a streamlined, more agile firm better able to help clients adapt to and benefit from the changes the 21st century brings.”

Since the lease’s signing in late 2012, Kaye Scholer has been working with leading architecture firm Gensler, as well as with technology consultants, to design a space that promotes connectedness and creativity. Features include conference rooms equipped with the latest audio-visual and video-conferencing technologies; desktop collaboration tools across all of the firm’s systems; and wireless printing capabilities, configured for the full range of mobile devices. Particular attention was paid to the firm’s staff spaces, which offer high ceilings, abundant natural light, oversized work spaces and generous open floor plans. Demonstrating the firm’s commitment to sustainability, the new building is LEED Gold certified, offering cutting-edge environmental benefits, such as lighting, electric, water and ventilation controls. The firm has exclusive access to a tree-lined garden terrace for the firm’s lawyers, staff, clients, family and friends.

“At 425 Park, we’ve made great memories with our colleagues and achieved tremendous successes for our clients,” said Kaye Scholer Real Estate Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s executive committee, Steve Gliatta, who worked with leasing agency CBRE to negotiate the leasing transaction and oversaw the build-out. “As we prepare for the start of our firm’s second century in 2017, our new home will help us write Kaye Scholer’s most successful chapter yet. We also look forward to getting to know our new neighbors on NYC’s vibrant West Side, and to becoming a valuable contributor to that community.”

Added Solow: “250 West 55th Street underscores all that Kaye Scholer has become and paves the way for all that we still aspire to be.”
