Jungermann Quoted in German Financial Times

October 31, 2009

Dr. Sebastian Jungermann (Partner, Litigation, Frankfurt Office) was interviewed by the prominent financial newspaper Financial Times Deutschland about the Google Book Search Settlement and copyright issues for international copyrights and authors affected by the proposed settlement.  In the article “Chased by Digitalization” (Getriebene der Digitalisierung) of October 31, Sebastian is quoted as saying that digitalization of books and of other “originally non-digital content” is becoming more and more of an issue for collecting societies, especially for the German GEMA.  The Internet very often annuls copyrights and many business models have to be reconsidered.  International collecting societies are having major difficulties with these developments, and many authors and owners of IP are suffering as a result.
