Bryan Stevenson, Executive Director of Equal Justice Initiative, Speaks at Firm's Annual Pro Bono Awards Dinner
On February 9, 2011, Kaye Scholer held its annual Pro Bono Awards Dinner, honoring the 70 lawyers in the New York office who contributed 50 or more hours of pro bono legal services in 2010. The guest speaker and honoree was Bryan Stevenson, Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative and Professor of Clinical Law at New York University School of Law. He thanked the firm for its willingness to take on difficult habeas and clemency petitions for indigent death row inmates sentenced to death under circumstances in violation of their constitutional rights. Many of the lawyers who have worked on capital cases, including John Geelan, James Herschlein, Lori Leskin and Jennifer Patterson (all Partners, New York Office) were present.
