Kaye Scholer ranks first in New York and fifth in the US in The American Lawyer’s most recent survey of summer associate satisfaction. The firm scored near-perfect marks across all nine categories in the annual survey, which garnered responses from more than 3600 summer associates across 135 firms nationwide.
“Our goal is to create a realistic and meaningful learning experience for our future colleagues,” says Bess Sully, director of Talent Development. “We think extensively about our summer program and its role in fostering a fulfilling legal career.”
The survey, which coincides with the end of firms’ summer programs and the beginning of their new interviewing seasons, has been an influential “must read” for legal recruiters and second- and third-year law students for more than a decade. It asks summer associates to rank their firm experience on a range of indicators, including how interesting the work was, how much “real” work was assigned, how the training and guidance measured up, how positive interactions with partners and with associates were, how well the firm communicated its goals and expectations, how accurately the firm portrayed itself in interviews, and how the firm rated overall as a place to work.
The top survey rankings reflect a continual process—guided by the firm’s Recruiting Committee, co-chaired by Partners Salvatore Mastrosimone and Catherine Schumacher, and implemented by our Talent Development office—to help build the best teams for providing efficient services and business-savvy solutions to clients.
