For the second consecutive year, Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers have named Kaye Scholer to their list of the “50 Best Law Firms for Women.” Published annually since 2007, the list recognizes law firms for family-friendly policies and career and business development initiatives that help retain women lawyers and advance them through the leadership pipeline.
Regarding Kaye Scholer’s selection as a best law firm for women, Working Mother says, “Work life integration is a central theme at this firm, where alternative schedules are common. Telecommuters and those on leave can attend training and events, and new mothers are welcomed back by a transition team, coaches and an affinity group.”
The 2016 list of 50 Best Law Firms for Women is based on individual firms’ responses to an application of more than 300 questions about workforce representation; time off and leaves; child care; flexibility; leadership, compensation and advancement of women; and development and retention of women. Firms named to the list lead the industry in creating best practices that support women and working parents by creating flexible work arrangements and offering generous paid parental leave. The firms also focus on fostering business development opportunities for women, compensation parity with men and increased representation of women among equity partners and in leadership.
Jennifer Owens, editorial director of Working Mother Media, said Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms” demonstrate what it takes to be women and family friendly. “Despite intense pressures, the success of the firms in creating workable solutions for working families shows their commitment and ingenuity to create a progressive future for their firms.”
“We are proud to again be recognized as a top law firm in which women lawyers can succeed,” said Kaye Scholer managing partner Michael Solow. “We honor the firm’s commitment to creating a culture in which everyone is valued and accorded equal respect, all of which enhances our ability to retain and serve our increasingly diverse clients.”
