George Williams, Special Counsel in the New York office of Kaye Scholer’s Finance Department, has written a chapter in the published book, Management von Anwaltskanzleien: Erfolgreiche Führung von Anwaltsunternehmen (Management of Law Firms: Successful Leadership in the Business of Law). The chapter, titled “Die Auswirkungen der Finanzkrise auf Kanzleistrategie und die Struktur des Rechts” (The Effects of the Financial Crisis on Law-Firm Strategy and the Structure of the Law), discusses recent views on “big law,” the difficulty of applying ordinary management ideas at a time of extreme crisis, and the kinds of potential changes in legal thinking that could arise in the course of working with increasingly important regulatory ideas such as systemic risk.
