Kaye Scholer Assists in Haitian Relief Efforts
January 19, 2010
To provide assistance in response to the devastation from the earthquake in Haiti, Kaye Scholer LLP will match donations made by its Partners and employees, up to a total matching contribution of $100,000. The firm's contribution will be spread among three organizations -- the American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and Partners in Health. Kaye Scholer Partners and employees may make their individual contributions to charities of their choice that are providing direct assistance to Haitian relief efforts.
Background on Organizations Receiving Kaye Scholer Support
American Red Cross
As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguishes itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters. The Red Cross has established a 50-bed hospital in Port-au-Prince, temporary shelters, and is distributing much needed materials such as tarps, blankets, hygiene items, buckets, shelter supplies and kitchen sets.

Partners in Health
Partners in Health, together with its partner organization, Zanmi Lasante, has worked in Haiti for nearly twenty-five years and is one of the largest non-governmental health care providers in the country. PIH's primary clinic in Haiti is one of the few functioning health care clinics in Haiti, with staff, medication, and operating rooms that survived the earthquake. PIH's doctors and nurses are also now providing care at public hospitals in Port au Prince.
