December 2, 2011
On December 2, 2011, the European Commission appointed Frankfurt Partner Hans-Joachim Fritz to a four-year term as a member of the newly established Group of Experts on Corruption for the European Union member states. Created by the commission on September 28, 2011, the 17 members of the Group of Experts on Corruption – some of them representing particular institutions concerned with fighting against corruption in the European Union member states, others (individually) with profound scientific background – will assist in establishing an EU anti-corruption report to be published every two years beginning in 2013. In addition, the Group of Experts will advise the commission on how to monitor and assist members states’ anti-corruption efforts, identify standards, methodologies and best practices, offer specific recommendations concerning the adjustment of EU policy (prevention, abatement), and advise the commission on the prevention of corruption in the EU market.
