Ross Allen is an Associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice group and focuses his practice on patent litigation. He represents clients in the biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications industries, as well as the developing areas of social media and clean technology.
At his prior firm, Ross was part of a trial team that represented a dental equipment and supplies manufacturer in a patent infringement action involving orthodontic appliances (case settled favorably after a two-week trial). He also has experience with patent infringement actions involving nucleic acid isolation technology, optoelectronics, electronic gaming devices, commercial ventilation systems and software for medical transcription. Ross has argued before several federal district courts, including successfully arguing claim construction and summary judgment motions.
During law school, Ross was the editor-in-chief of the SMU Science and Technology Law Review. He also externed for Judge Carl H. Ginsberg in the 193rd Civil District Court in Dallas, Texas.
Before practicing law, Ross was a research assistant at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience, where he researched the effects of dioxin (TCDD) on circadian rhythms and CLOCK proteins mPER1, mPER2, and bMAL in mice and the correlating effects in humans using DNA/RNA extraction and rtPCR. Additionally, he externed at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center and the Associated Regional and University Pathologists (ARUP Laboratories) in molecular genetic pathology, where he worked in the research and development of molecular testing for human genetics, infectious diseases, hematopathology, oncology, pharmacogenetics, and histocompatibility.
Ross received the American Corporate Counsel Association’s Larry Margolies Award for Public Interest Law and is involved in many community-based organizations. He currently serves on the National Leadership Council of Lambda Legal.
