Sam Deka concentrates his practice on patent infringement litigation. Mr. Deka works extensively on pharmaceutical patent infringement cases and has also worked on several patent infringement trials involving computer and telecommunications technologies. Mr. Deka also has experience with intellectual property due diligence matters, as well as merger and acquisition matters involving intellectual property.
Mr. Deka’s litigation experience includes arguing patent claim construction in federal district court; arguing discovery motions in federal district court; taking and defending depositions of both fact and expert witnesses; drafting briefs for discovery, summary judgment, claim construction, and pre-trial and post-trial motions; working with experts to prepare expert reports; preparing fact and expert witnesses to testify in deposition and trial; and working with lead trial counsel to prepare opening statements and closing arguments.
Prior to joining Kaye Scholer, Mr. Deka was a Summer Associate and Associate at Kenyon & Kenyon LLP, where he worked on patent infringement litigations involving various technologies, including optical telecommunications, VoIP, Internet streaming media, automated external defibrillators, high-capacity commercial printing presses, mass spectrometers, and infrared spectrometers.
While in law school, Mr. Deka interned for the chief intellectual property counsel of a semiconductor design and manufacturing company. While in college, Mr. Deka gained research experience on optical networking technologies as an intern at Lucent - Bell Labs.
