David Harris is an Associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Department of the New York office of Kaye Scholer. His practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property litigation. He has worked on patent issues involving pharmaceutical generic litigation, biotechnology, and litigation before the International Trade Commission. He has researched the trademark damages available in New York, as well as the application of the Lanham Act to modern social networking. In copyright law, he assisted in the defense of the Harry Potter Lexicon against claims of infringement brought by J.K. Rowling, and has researched the future of character copyright in light of recent copyright grant terminations occurring in the comic book industry, as well as the role of traditional fair use under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Mr. Harris’s pro bono experience has focused on collaboration with the New York Center for Law and Justice on advocacy for low-income deaf clients. He has also assisted in seeking uncontested divorces for victims of domestic violence, obtaining disability benefits for low-income clients, and non-profit corporate governance.

Mr. Harris received an AB in Psychology from Princeton University. He received his JD from New York University School of Law, where he was an Editor of the NYU Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.
