Deanna L. Keysor primarily focuses her practice on a variety of intellectual property litigation work, including trademarks, false advertising, patents and trade secrets. She also has experience in antitrust and appellate litigation, as well as all aspects of general litigation, from pre-filing through trial and appellate briefing to each stage of discovery, including deposition practice, the management of electronic document production, briefing and arguments before the court. Additionally, she has experience in arbitration proceedings, particularly under the American Arbitration Association rules.

Deanna has worked with technologies including mechanical devices and processes, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and computer software, among others. Through her career, she has litigated multiple cases arising from the medical device, pharmaceutical and automotive industries. Deanna was named an “Up and Coming” attorney by Chambers USA 2015 and 2016, with clients praising her as being “a very good writer” (2015) and her ability to "get right to the point without using flowery language” (2016).

Prior to joining Kaye Scholer, she served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Alan E. Norris on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She earned her JD from Yale Law School and her BA from Miami University, where she graduated summa cum laude.

Representative Highlights

    • Served as litigation counsel for an electronic products manufacturer in a false advertising litigation in the Northern District of Illinois. A settlement was secured.
    • Defended a large office products company against a claim of false advertising for the use of an allegedly mis-descriptive trademark in connection with the sale of label products. The client obtained a complete summary judgment in its favor.
    • Represented a manufacturer of marine purification systems in an effort to stop competitors from infringing the client’s trademark. The client’s competitors all terminated their infringing uses.
    • Represented a mobile phone carrier in a trademark infringement action against a competitor. A settlement was secured.
    • Represented a medical products manufacturer in a false advertising action involving the client’s representations to physicians. A settlement was secured.
    • Represented a large restaurant franchisor in a trademark infringement action against a terminated former franchisee. A settlement was secured.
    • Represented a motorcycle manufacturer in trademark infringement claims against a company using the client’s logo on merchandise bags. Complete summary judgment was awarded to the client.
    • Represented an electronic trading firm in a Lanham Act claim against a former vendor based on false claims of sponsorship. A settlement was secured.
    • Represented a genetically modified seed manufacturer in a false advertising claim. A settlement was secured.
    • Represented a sports drink manufacturer in a false advertising claim against a competitor. A settlement was secured.
    • Represented a toilet tissue manufacturer in a false advertising claim against a competitor. A settlement was secured.
    • Served as litigation counsel for a defendant in a design patent litigation in the Southern District of New York involving automotive components. A settlement was secured.
    • Served as litigation counsel for a defendant in patent litigation involving automotive components. A settlement was secured.
