Daniel Lewin’s practice is broad-based and covers the full range of UK tax issues. He advises corporate, institutional, investment management and private clients on the UK and international tax aspects of a wide variety of transactions, including financings, acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, operational and investment structures, derivative transactions, and employment matters, usually with an international element.  He also advises on matters of personal taxation.   He has particular experience in the taxation of hedge, private equity and property funds and management groups, where he continues to be involved in the structuring of innovative investment routes for both private managers and large financial institutions.

Recognized as a Leading Practitioner by Chambers UK (2010 and 2011) and Legal 500 (2014), Chambers reported that Mr. Lewin “receives universal praise for his ‘outstanding client service’ and ‘inside-out knowledge of the UK tax regime.’”  Clients describe him as “very personable, very smart and very good at thinking ahead.”

Daniel is a frequent writer and lecturer, mostly on matters affecting the alternative investment sector.  He served several terms as a member of the Alternative Investment Management Association (“AIMA”) Tax Committee, which works closely with HM Revenue and Customs and HM Treasury on all aspects of the taxation of the alternative investment fund industry. He continues to contribute to AIMA’s work on tax matters.
