Scott Lindvall has substantial trial experience with a particular focus on patent litigation. As a result of his broad technical educational background, he has represented Fortune 100 companies in a range of industries including wireless and wireline telecommunications, computer technology (including parallel processing, mass digital storage and memory devices, compression algorithms, anti-virus and firewall software, VoIP, network topology, and voice recognition and analysis), aerospace technology, digital image processing, medical devices, pharmaceutical (including Hatch-Waxman litigation), mechanical devices, and biotechnology. Mr. Lindvall has 25 years of litigation experience, and, in particular, extensive trial practice. During the just the past three years, Mr. Lindvall, acting as lead trial counsel, has tried three patent infringement trials to verdict. MORE

For example, Mr. Lindvall was lead counsel for a major cellular communications company in a trial in which a jury verdict was entered shielding the company from alleged damages for patent infringement in excess of $400 million, one of the largest defense verdicts of that year. He represented CA, Inc. (formerly Computer Associates), a major software company, in a trade secret and copyright infringement case, in which his client received a cash settlement of $50 million on the eve of a jury trial.

Mr. Lindvall was responsible for successfully asserting patents in a Hatch-Waxman action on behalf of a Glaxo Welcome plc (now GlaxoSmithKline) against a generic pharmaceutical company, involving a drug with annual sales exceeding $3 billion. He is currently defending the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE Euronet) in a patent infringement suit involving a business method patent in which the plaintiff is seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. Some of the other clients Mr. Lindvall has represented include BAE Systems plc, International Paper Company, Novo Nordisk A/S, and Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Lindvall has a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University. After graduation, he was employed by McDonnell Douglas Corp. as a research aerospace engineer specializing in computational fluid dynamics. This technical education and work experience exposed him to a broad range of technologies, including electronics, software programming, computer hardware design, structural design, fluid mechanics, organic and inorganic chemistry, mechanical design, as well as general physics. Mr. Lindvall received his law degree from the College of William and Mary where he was Editor of the William and Mary Law Review.
