Kerry Alan Scanlon, Co-Chair of Kaye Scholer’s Employment & Labor group, has successfully litigated discrimination and wage and hour class actions for more than 30 years. He has unique experience in litigating employment class actions on both sides and has fully tried an employment class action, unlike most specialists in his field. Kerry was recently ranked in Benchmark Litigation 2015 and Chambers USA 2014. Chambers reports that clients praise him as “‘fabulous,’” and “‘very analytical and not afraid of getting into the granular details of an issue - he customizes the approach to deal with our business needs.’”
Prior to his government service, he spent a combined 15 years with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, two of the nation’s most prominent civil rights organizations. During that time he was successful in over 100 major cases and became a nationally recognized civil rights litigator and trial lawyer, whose cases often set precedents and achieved landmark results. He also played an instrumental role in the enactment of several major civil rights statutes by the Congress.
At Kaye Scholer, Kerry has used those same litigation and problem-solving skills on behalf of a wide variety of corporations, non-profit organizations, public-private entities, educational institutions, and individuals. He has successfully defended some of the largest employment discrimination class actions, and his clients include The Walt Disney Company, Fox Television, National Geographic, The Body Shop International, Novartis, JPMorgan Chase, Alcon, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Brooklyn Law School and United Cerebral Palsy.
At a time when civil rights is an area of growing concern to the business community, Kerry’s depth of knowledge brings to our clients seasoned experience in the prevention and litigation of equal rights claims.
