Marisa Armanino Williams is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Group and focuses her practice on patent litigation. She has litigated patents covering a broad range of technology in the software and life sciences fields.

Ms. Williams has substantial experience in all stages of patent litigation, including trial and pretrial work, arguing and drafting dispositive motions, deposing inventors and other witnesses, developing claim constructions and invalidity and non-infringement theories, and managing complex discovery issues.

Most recently, on behalf of Google Inc., Ms. Williams was part of a trial team that won a verdict of non-infringement of all five patents asserted against Google by ContentGuard Holdings, Inc., and handled the direct examination of a key technical witness.

On behalf of Complete Genomics, Inc. (CGI), Ms. Williams successfully argued a motion for summary judgment of non-infringement of a patent for genomic sequencing.  Kaye Scholer’s favorable judgments of non-infringement and invalidity, and subsequent dismissal with prejudice of two patent infringement suits filed against CGI by Illumina were selected by The Daily Journal as one of the “Top Verdicts of 2013.”

Ms. Williams currently serves on the Firm’s Pro Bono Committee. She has volunteered as an attorney with the Federal Pro Bono Project for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
