Lester Kirshenbaum has represented creditors' committees, debtors, financial institutions, corporate creditors and indenture trustees in both large- and medium-sized Chapter 11 cases during the past three decades, including National Century Financial Enterprises, Integrated Health Services, Texaco, Johns-Manville, Charter Oil, Prime Motor Inns, Caldor Corporation, City Stores, Tacoma Boatbuilding, Emons Industries, Brooks Fashion Stores, Jamesway, Sorg, Northern Feather, Coated Sales and MarketXT Holdings.

A substantial part of Mr. Kirshenbaum's practice involves serving as
lead counsel in large bankruptcy-related litigations and in major fraud
and insolvency investigations relating to insolvent debtors. The
litigations handled by Mr. Kirshenbaum in both federal and state court
include the prosecution and defense of fraudulent conveyance,
preference and other avoidance actions, real estate/commercial lease
assignment litigations, employer/employee-related litigations, D&O
insurance coverage litigations, contested motions for the appointment
of Chapter 11 trustees, contested motions to convert or dismiss the
Chapter 11 cases, litigations concerning various issues arising in
healthcare provider bankruptcies, defense of financial institutions in
lender liability actions, defense of indenture trustees in bondholder
suits, litigations respecting misstated financial statements, the
prosecution of contested involuntary bankruptcy petitions, and
contested claims litigations. Mr. Kirshenbaum has also argued numerous
bankruptcy-related appeals.
Prior to joining Kaye Scholer in 1990, Mr. Kirshenbaum was a partner in the prominent bankruptcy firm of Levin & Weintraub, Crames & Edelman.
