Barry Willner is Special Counsel in the Complex Commercial Litigation department and Managing Partner Emeritus of Kaye Scholer. A Partner in the Firm since 1980, Barry served for 16 consecutive years, beginning in 1995, on the firm’s Executive Committee. Barry served as the Firm’s Managing Partner for more than a decade and was the firm’s first Managing Partner. Prior to becoming Managing Partner, Barry was involved in the firm’s management as Vice Chair of the firm’s Executive Committee and thereafter served as Chair of the Firm’s Executive Committee. In the years during which Barry presided as Managing Partner the Firm opened offices in Chicago, London, Frankfurt, Palo Alto and Shanghai. Barry also served as a member of the firm’s Compensation Committee for 15 years.
Barry has been lead counsel in a variety of litigations involving antitrust, contract disputes, securities fraud and RICO violations, bid rigging, labor disputes, lender liability, and derivatives. Matters litigated by Barry include the defense of a major oil company in two complex price-fixing cases. In more than a dozen cases, Barry has successfully defended banking institutions.
Barry serves as a member of the Board of the Legal Aid Society.
