Stephen Cha-Kim

Stephen Cha-Kim represents global clients in cross-border disputes and in federal and state court litigation across the U.S. From his eight years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Stephen brings extensive experience handling all stages of civil litigation, having managed multi-agency investigations of corporate and public entities, obtained numerous trial victories and favorable settlements, and briefed and argued appeals raising issues of first impression.

At SDNY, Stephen led affirmative and defensive matters involving financial and healthcare fraud, and environmental, civil rights, administrative, national security, employment, international, and art law. Among other achievements, he oversaw major enforcement matters related to lead exposure and abatement and manufacturer emissions under the Clear Air Act; bet-the-company False Claims Act investigations and litigation, including helping win, at US$300 million, one of the largest mortgage fraud judgments ever awarded following a jury trial; and significant commercial and intellectual property disputes involving the Departments of State and Defense, the Export-Import Bank, and the Smithsonian Institution. During his government tenure, Stephen was also detailed to the White House as Associate Counsel to the President, advising the Biden Administration on matters related to environmental regulation and litigation.
