Sonia Tabriz advises companies that do business with the U.S. government. She has a broad government contracts and national security practice that spans compliance counseling, litigation and investigations.

Sonia counsels clients on the various statutory and regulatory obligations arising from federal contracts and grants. She has particular experience with accounting, cost and pricing, including the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and FAR Part 31 cost principles as well as navigating audits and other matters with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). Sonia also assists clients with Section 889, cybersecurity, information governance, other transaction authority (OTAs), and suspension and debarment.

Sonia maintains a robust litigation practice, including bid protests at the U.S. Government Accountability Office and Court of Federal Claims as well as contract disputes, including developing and appealing claims before the Boards of Contract Appeals (ASBCA and CBCA). Sonia has unique experience representing government contractors in federal district court in cases involving commercial disputes, class actions, the False Claims Act and the Administrative Procedure Act.

Sonia also manages internal as well as civil and criminal investigations of alleged misconduct or fraud, including disclosures and strategic engagement with government stakeholders.

Sonia's clients span numerous industries including technology, aerospace and defense, professional services, educational institutions, healthcare, pharmaceutical and construction. She supports traditional and nontraditional contractors as well as grant recipients, including nonprofit organizations. Across all matters, Sonia is a trusted advisor. She leverages her experience and her deep understanding of each client’s business to develop a nuanced legal analysis and a tailored, practical approach that furthers the company's strategic goals.

Sonia also maintains an active pro bono practice, including complex civil rights litigation and impact litigation relating to immigration, and serves on the firm's Pro Bono Committee.

Sonia graduated from The George Washington University Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Public Contract Law Journal, and later rejoined as a Professorial Lecturer in Law and member of the Government Contracts Advisory Council. She is also active in the ABA’s Section of Public Contract Law. Sonia has been recognized as a "Rising Star" and "One to Watch" in the area of government contracts by legal publications and directories, and routinely speaks and publishes on recent developments and best practices.
