July 24, 2013

Kaye Scholer represented Fairmount Minerals Inc., a leading global producer of high grade industrial sand and value-added sand products including resin coated sand and ceramics, in three strategic acquisitions over the course of the last four months. Fairmount sand products are used in a variety of end-markets including oil and gas hydraulic fracturing, metal casting, golf courses, and other applications. On May 14, 2013, Fairmount acquired self-suspending proppant technology from Soane Energy of Cambridge, MA, on June 26, 2013, Fairmount acquired Great Plains Sand, LLC, the owner of a Northern White sand mine in Minnesota and on July 24, 2013, it signed a purchase agreement with FTS International to acquire nearly all of FTSI's sandmining operations, resin-coating plants, and distribution terminals.  The Kaye Scholer team for these acquisitions, who worked alongside Fairmount's General Counsel, David Crandall, was led by Partners Mel Cherney and Lowell Dashefsky and Counsel Marci Settle.
