Kaye Scholer Signs Lease for its New York Office Building

December 19, 2012

New York – After 55 years, Kaye Scholer’s New York office will be relocating from 425 Park Avenue to a new building on Manhattan’s West Side. Founded in New York City in 1917, Kaye Scholer has grown to more than 450 attorneys in nine offices in the US, UK, Germany and China. Its New York office remains the firm’s largest, with approximately 285 attorneys based there.

The firm signed an initial 20-year lease with Boston Properties for new office space at 250 West 55th Street. Currently still under construction, the building will offer energy and water efficiencies and use low-VOC materials for improved air quality, and is aiming to achieve LEED™ Gold certification upon completion. Kaye Scholer will occupy floors 3 through 12, which includes outdoor terrace access on the third floor and totals almost 250,000 rentable square feet.

CBRE acted as Kaye Scholer’s agent in brokering the lease. Gensler will serve as the architects for the design and configuration of the office space itself.

Regarding the firm’s choice of 250 West 55th Street after nearly two years of searching, Kaye Scholer Managing Partner Michael Solow said, “We decided on this space because of its mid-town location; Boston Properties’ reputation as a landlord that understands the demands of the legal world; the flexible design and efficiency of the building; quick access to a multitude of top-level services and public transportation options; and close proximity to Central Park, Time Warner Center, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and other arts facilities that help make New York a cultural haven.”

The firm expects to move into its new office sometime in mid-2014.
