Jay Waks Quoted in New York Law Journal on New York City's Human Rights Law

January 29, 2009

Jay Waks, (Partner, Litigation; Chair, Employment & Labor Law Practice, New York Office) was quoted on the front page of the New York Law Journal in a January 29, 2009 article entitled, "Panel Urges Broad Reading of City Human Rights Law" by reporter Daniel Wise. The article concerns the January 27th decision of the State’s Appellate Division, First Department, in Williams v. New York City Housing Authority, interpreting a 2005 amendment to New York City’s Human Rights Law. In Williams, the court adopted a new protocol by which to assess cases of sexual harassment. Mr. Waks explained, however, that "the court has legislated new standards for cases brought under the City law, a step that, the court itself noted, the City Council declined to take."
