Mel Cherney Talks Big Buyouts with Bloomberg

Corporate Department co-chair Mel Cherney was quoted in a Bloomberg article on whether Carlyle Group’s recent $8B purchase of Symantec Corp.’s data-management business is proof that big buyouts can still happen.
“You’re only in business as a private-equity fund to do deals, so sooner or later, you’ve got to do deals,” said Cherney. “It takes a lot of discipline to stay within the parameters that you set for yourself in terms of projected returns, but clearly there’s pressure to put that money out there.”
